「ラ・マンチャの男」試訳

名台詞・名文句収集コーナーだ。

わたくしがかなり好きな作品に、不滅の古典ドン・キホーテを基にした中村和裕の入場・・・もとい、「ラ・マンチャの男」がある。劇中劇の趣向を盛り込み、原作の皮肉な視点をポジティブなものに置き換えている。

もっとも自分が見たのは映画版だ。

日本では松本幸四郎の大当たり役となっているが、彼も還暦を過ぎた。一回は見ておかないと、物理的にそろそろ彼のこの舞台も、終幕が近づいているだろう。

で、この作品のナンバーからは　「Impossible Dream」（邦題「見果てぬ夢」）が極めて著名なスタンダード作品になっている。
だが自分はむしろ、冒頭で劇中劇の主人公としてドン・キホーテが登場する場面の、勇壮なる曲が大好きだった。
何曲かバージョンを集めてはいたが、自分は完全に歌詞を聞き取れるはずもない。だが、思い立って例の英語の歌詞が分かる

メモ代わりの紹介と、英語版の字幕も参考にしながら自分なりのつくってみようと。
これも日本語の劇になっている以上、きちんとした日本語の訳詩があるのだろうけどね。

ノリが極めていい曲だが、ＣＤ版と比べても映画版の勇壮さは際立っている。
これはちょっと自己満足のエントリでした。
